Donnerubin crowned 2011 Level 1 Horse of the Year Champion

“Donnerubin crowned 2011 Level 1 Horse of the Year Champion.  He scored over 70% in three of his tests, the Championship final he was given the staggering score of 83% by the Judge at C, over 10% ahead of most of the field.

The class numbers were very high with 52 entered and the classes running for the entire day to competition was tough!

Not bad considering he is only 4 years old, has only been under saddle 9 months and it was only his fourth show ever!

He also did very well at his other earlier shows. His second show where we only went for the last class of the competition to qualify for nationals he came fourth overall ( came second in the first championship class), which was great, but I sacrificed riding him like normal to save him for the class we actually went for!!

His third show National Dressage Championships he came fourth overall, I had to save him for the last ride at the end of the competition where we had to do a display in front of 3,000 people indoors at National Dressage Championships Extravaganza on the Saturday night, so sadly again I had to save him for that!   He was a star at the extravaganza however and didn’t put a foot wrong, albeit he was very tired!

Finally at HOY we got to ride for gold and warm up like we normally ride at home and what a difference it made in the marks! He has served 65 mares this season, all got in foal off the first or second insemination dose, not bad given it was a bad season for the mares cycles with the weather being feast or famine!

We will this year again be offering the exceptional mare discount and early bird discount (just return the contract and booking fee before the cut off date at the end of the year - you can still serve your mare anytime in the season and pay the service fee closer to that time), but those prices are in the process of being increased (likely to be by a couple of hundred only). I have said to people enquiring, that until I change the prices formally I will offer them last seasons prices provided they get the contract and booking fee back to me before the prices change end of winter.

We've had a really fun season making lots of new friends through the serving side of things and the competition side of things, look forward to seeing you out there! Smiles all round here!”
